Mom and I are having a great adventure so far and learning so much. Yesterday we met with our department head and visited our physical classroom. We're very fortunate, because our classroom is in a brand new building, very modern and with all the computer and audio/visual equipment built in. Because we're teaching PHD students, the curriculum is totally up to us and we are only required to give them an oral exam at the end of the semester. The only other requirement is that they have to attend at least 2/3 of our classes to pass. It's going to be fun and we can't wait to meet our students and get going.
We've got the food shopping pretty much down (kind of). There's a fresh vegertavle/fruit market just half a block form our apartment. The prices are great. Other things like towels, paper, etc are pretty expensive. We bought a computer printer yesterday for about $ 35 and I'm looking at a bike for about $ 40.
This morning Jeanne and I went for a long walk around campus. There's a very large front plaza/boulevard with big ponds, trees, pergolas, etc right down the middle of campus. Early in the morning it's full of old people (no young ones) exercising and fishing - it's wonderful.

I hope you're taking tons of great photos so you can do a big slideshow fireside when you get back. This is such an awesome thing you're able to do! I wish I could see it, too. In a few years, eh? :o)
