It was a real busy week. Today we finished our last two PHD classes. These are real smart students (all Engineering PHD), but their English abilities are ALL over the board. That makes classes pretty challenging, but we'll work through it and have a blast figuring it out. We've been asked to each teach a Freshman English class to English majors. Both classes are delightful and very small (11 to 15 students). They are eager to learn and lots of fun. Here's a photo of my class.
Tonight Mom and I and another couple decided to try the campus cafeteria out for dinner. I cost less than a dollar a person. Well, as Mom put it: "You get what you paid for." We got a big plate of rice with a couple of toppings on it of "who knows what". Mom was NOT impressed. Well, so much for a great dinner out on Friday night.
So far this is a very stimulating experience. These kids are real sharp, respectful and just aching for more in life. We really love them already.
