No pictures, I'm not that sophisticated yet, a year without blogging I have a lot to relearn. All the family is here for the fourth accept for David and Sherrie's family, baby William needs to be a little older before his first car trip and Michael who is back at the Hill Cumorah Pageant doing a documentary for the church.
I love being home but do miss my Chinese students, they are amazing!
I have wanted to write about my expereince with exercise the last year and a half. My good friend Kirsten gave a presentation at Relief Society about the importance of exercise for women as they age, it really got me thinking. My friend Marcia shared her Zumba classes with me so a year and a half ago February 2011 I signed up and decide to see how things went. I loved the Zumba and worried about what I would do to exercise in China. We walked a lot in China but in February 2012 I read a book called Spark which talked about excerise and the brain, I was motivated to do something more than walk. I have never been able to maintain motivation to exercise for weight loss but brain power really interested me. My friend Cassie wrote about a program called from Couch to Five K on her blog and I mulled it over for a few days and decide I could at least try. Running has never been my thing but it was a good option for China. I worked up to a thirty minute run in China but had to stop six weeks ago because of some knee pain. I was worried how I would do starting up again after six weeks of not running. Yesterday I finally ran a full 5K not in 30 minutes, closer to 40 but I was impressed that my endurance has build to the point hat I could go the distance and the time. In April 2011 I took my measurements and have continued to take them over the last year and a half . I have no idea how much weight I have lost (I refuse to buy a scale) but I have lost over 40 inches oveer all and gone from a size 14 to a size 8. I'm not sure how my brain is doing but it is still my motivation to run.

Wow . . . that's fantastic! I'm with you on motivation . . . having baby #6 really cost me my health, and the thought of getting some of my mental agility back is a powerful motivator.
If you're having trouble with your knees, you should talk to Vern. He had the worst. knees. ever. back when he started running, but has learned running form that's knee-injury free. You have to transition carefully, because it takes more foot strength than most Americans have, but it has been amazing to see how far he's come from those first days of hardly being able to run at all without serious knee trouble.
Welcome home!!!
