So a quick China update. The BIG news today is that Dad ordered water on the phone, without help, and it actually got delivered. No small task in Chinese. He also has a cold and has been confined to bed, we were grateful that it was our day off today. I have attached a few pictures that give you an idea of some of the life we see on the street. The pile of bikes is next to one of the student dorms, you see abandoned bikes everywhere and I guess the school is trying to get a handle on the problem. The man with the sewing machine is fixing shoes on the street. I think of Elder Uchldorf every time I see someone pumping someone on the back of their bike. I can imagine him pumping the "beautiful Harriet's" mother on the back of his bike to church. We passed this trash can on the way home from the store a few days ago. Hmmm.
I made another loaf of bread successfully today, I'm almost confident enough to share it someone else. I tried cinnamon rolls yesterday. They weren't pretty and were a little dry but the people I shared with were pretty excited.
The other couple teaching with us here, the husband, is experiencing some pretty serious helath issues, he has been to the hospital three times and will go to see a specialist tomorrow in Beijing. His doctor in Washington is advising him to come home unless the specialist can get control of the problem quickly. Dad and I are really gratefull for our good health. We thank the Lord everyday.
For dessert tonight I had some chocolate chips with a couple of walnuts. HEAVEN.
