Birthday Cousins

Isaac is one year old today, and giving his Mom a run for her money. He inherited climbing genes from Ry Guy. He just gets more handsome with each passing week. As you can see he is popular with his sisters and Grandma and Grandpa. Rumor has it that Marian has a terrible crush on him.
David is seven years old today. What a nice boy he is. David is a wonderful artist and has a very creative mind. He and I did a lot of homework together. he knows how to work hard and has an excellent mind. He is going to be a math whiz and is great reader.

This is my project for the day. These pumpkins came up on their own in the garden and they are fabulous. They will make great pumpkin pie. Yummy!!!!. So girding up my courage to clean them,(they are almost as yucky as chicken to touch), I will bake them and freeze their innards. The seeds will be prepared as per instructions from Joshua's pumpkin book. Clean them, dry them, put a little oil and salt an them and roast them in a 350 oven for about 15 minutes stirring every five minutes.

I'm very jelous of your pumpkins. Seeing as I was great with child this summer I did not do a garden (for shame!) and thus had no pumpkins of my own. Our Piggly-Wiggly didn't even sell pie pumpkins this year either....which is tragical, seeing as how we're both kind of pumpkin hounds -- and don't really care for the canned stuff in our pies. We'll think of any excuse to eat orange squash.

You are brave. I still haven't gotten up the courage (or had enough time) to try making a pumpkin pie that didn't come from a can. Good for you!

Those are two cute boys! I feel the same way about cleaning pumpkins - I really hate it. I don't like all the mess and slime. I am afraid I am not a very fun mom- I never carve pumpkins, that is Scott's department... Good luck and may the force be with you!
