Running
This morning I ran with a flock of turkeys for a few moments. It was a fun experience. Last week I was encouraged that my times were improving. This morning I was humbled by a very slow time, but then as I thought about it the run was beautiful, I saw some turkeys and did some good thinking. I was listening to an interview on the Mormon Channel in a program called conversations. It was an interview with Elaine and Steve Dalton. Both of them are runners and they were asked to share some of the lessons they had learned from running. Sister Dalton told of a time they were running together up a steep hill. She was quite a bit behind her husband. She explained that she is a little competitive and called to her husband that she was done and was going to turn around and go back to the car. Brother Dalton turned around and said "don't ever make the decision to stop when you are on a hill". He proceeded to run with her to the top. I thought it was a great insight about our own determination to not stop on the climb. We may have to slow down to a walk but it's always so good when we reach the top.
