These are the young men who come three mornings a week to study Preach My Gospel in preparation for their missions. They decided to dress in suits yesterday for this picture. Josh
Kopsa on the far right leaves for the
MTC next week, he is going to Romania. John Hull on the far left leaves for Brazil at the end of April. Garrett
Bennion next to John leaves for Mesa Arizona at the end of May. Ernie McKay in the middle is still awaiting a call, papers are in, he is learning patience. Matthew
Bouse to
Ernies left is just completing his mission papers. They are holding Ernie's Slacker
Wacker. Each of them has a copy of this picture to put in their scriptures to remind them of their times together. The are a great group of young men. It has been a
privilege to work with them. They have fine minds, a love of the Gospel, enthusiasm to teach and probing questions.
Everyday we sing the hymns acappella, they have gained a lot confidence and sing with gusto. Josh's favorite hymn is "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". Yesterday at the end of our time together we played the BYU chorus singing this song. Initially these young men just watched then quietly one by one their voices joined the choir. By the fourth verse they were singing full voice. What a tremendous spirit we felt. Wish I could bottle it and give it to those I love.

I cried just reading that. I know I have never been super enthusiastic about my time as a missionary but it really is the Lord's work and I was grateful to get to go. Missions will make these boys great men as they bless lives. Besides, Come Thou Fount is INCREDIBLE!
I can't believe these boys are already old enough to go on missions. Wow, I feel old now. What a neat time for those boys.
What a great group of Young Men. It would be fun to take an 'after' photo when they all return from their missions and compare the two.
I want a slacker whacker...I'd bring it when we are asked to sub in the youth sunday school! :)
Good lookin' bunch o' boys. It acutally makes me happy to see this. There is hope!! :)
What a good idea! Matt told me about these young men getting together in your home to study preach my gospel. They are going to be WELL prepared. I am sure they will be thankful for this time they spent in with you, when they are in the mission field.
They look so handsome all dressed up.
