Saturday I planted my onion sets and the chickens scratched them up. I replanted on Monday morning and they dug them up before I could get netting on them, so I replanted yesterday afternoon and got the netting down before they could do anymore wickedness. I also planted beets, spinach, parsnips ( a new vegetable for me) and lettuce. We have volunteer lettuce coming up in the herb bed and swiss chard that survived the winter. The rhubarb is looking fabulous. I also planted Jerusalem artichoke last year and we harvested some of that. It is a small hard white tuber that tastes very much like jimca. We really like it. I also transplanted most of my starts. I made a great soil mix with the compost that Dad, Michael and David moved for me and regular farm dirt.
The tulips are showing color and I suspect we will get some fruit blossoms in the next week or so. I know Melani was a little concerned at dad's trimming last fall but things are looking good with no apparent damage. The deciduous trees are starting to show green. We also mowed the first time this season on Friday. So spring really must be here.

Ok, I really need to get organized on our garden. The only evil we seem to have in our yard is a rabbit, which remains Joseph's arch enemy, the mule deer who think it's the Super 8 and like to lay on newly planted grass, and the newest arrival, a skunk -- who I'm hoping will move on soon.
So glad i don't have chickens. Yes, they are evil. (And very stupid.) You have way more patience than me, I would have killed the dang things after they messed up my hard work the first time. Hope your garden turns out well. I planted quite a few things this year as well. We'll see what happens.
